What Are Huck® Rivets?
Huck® Rivets refer to Huck-branded structural rivets designed for applications with critical strength and vibration resistance. While the term is sometimes used generically, it typically includes specific product lines such as Magna-Lok®, HuckLok®, and Magna-Bulb®. These are among the most popular high-strength blind rivets available today, offering consistent performance and long-lasting durability across many sectors.
Huck® Rivets vs. Huck® Bolts - What's the Difference?
Though they are often mentioned together, Huck Rivets and Huck Bolts (also known as Huck Lock Bolts) serve different purposes and function differently.
- Huck Rivets are one-piece blind fasteners, meaning they can be installed from only one side of the material, which is ideal for applications with limited access.
- Huck Bolts, on the other hand, are two-piece fasteners that require access to both sides of the material to install the pin and collar.
Huck Bolts generally provide higher shear and tensile strength than rivets, making them suitable for extreme load-bearing applications such as railcars, mining equipment, and heavy trucks.
How Are Huck® Rivets Installed?
Installing a Huck Rivet is straightforward using a rivet gun or a compatible hydraulic/pneumatic tool equipped with the correct nose assembly. Here is a typical installation workflow:
- Insert the rivet's mandrel into the tool's nosepiece.
- Place the rivet body into a pre-drilled hole in the material.
- Activate the tool. This pulls the mandrel through the rivet body, causing it to expand and clamp the materials together.
- The mandrel breaks off at a designed break point, completing the installation.
This process creates a vibration-resistant and permanent joint, ideal for structural applications.
Common Applications of Huck® Structural Rivets
Thanks to their strength and reliability, Huck Rivets are used across a wide range of industries and applications, including:
- Automotive manufacturing (e.g. Tesla®, Volvo®)
- Truck and trailer assembly and repair (e.g. Kenworth®)
- Aerospace (e.g. Boeing®)
- Caravans, camper trailers, and RVs
- HVAC installations
- Military and defence vehicles
- Security fencing and gates
- Ute trays and vehicles bodywork
Huck Rivets are a great choice if your project demands durable structural rivets with proven performance.
