The Benefits of Well Nuts
Well Nuts are a versatile fastener ideal across a range of industries, including automotive, textiles, consumer goods, construction, and electronics. They offer key advantages:
- They can be installed from one side.
- No rivnut tools are required for installation.
- They are removable and reusable.
- They are watertight.
- They can absorb vibration and noise.
- They can be used as an insulator.
Typical Applications
1. Thin Sheet Applications
Used to join similar or dissimilar materials or to fasten hardware onto thin surfaces such as:
- Mounting cargo carriers or emergency lighting on vehicles
- Installing decorative panels over drywall
- Anchoring shelving brackets to thin wall panels
2. Solid Material Anchor Applications
Ideal for anchoring into solid materials like concrete, wood, plastic, steel, or rubber. Suitable for uniform or irregular holes, this setup reduces vibration and prevents damage to the fastener when removed.
- Anchoring fans, fridges, or audio/visual equipment to floors, ceilings, or walls
- Mounting hardware onto concrete posts, steel beams, or wooden structures
What materials can they be used on?
Well Nuts work well with:
- Glass
- Metal
- Fibreglass
- Plastic
- Plywood
- Pipes
Thanks to their wide grip range, they're especially useful in boating and automotive applications, making them suitable for both thin and thick plates.
What are the restrictions of Well Nuts?
Though Well Nuts are watertight, they are not fully waterproof. Over time, rubber degradation will occur, especially in the saltwater environment. The threaded fastener can also loosen over time. Also, Well Nuts have a weaker pull-out and torque strength than rivet nuts in other materials.
How to install and remove Well Nuts?
You can use a threaded fastener of any type to install and remove Well Nuts. Read our blog, Well Nuts, A Hidden Gem, for more info. Additionally, refer to the demonstration video below for instructions on how to install and remove Well Nuts.
